How to Keep that Office Romance Alive - and Secret
An unscientific survey suggests that as many as 87 percent of working people have felt attracted to a coworker.... More than 83 percent said they would keep any office romance secret; 52.1 percent would tell only those close to them, and 31.6 percent said they would meet in complete secrecy.
The following are the 10 Commandments of keeping an office romance alive
1. Keep your mouth shut.
Dont breathe a word to anyone until you are absolutely sure that you're getting married.
2. Don't draw attention with telltale tokens.
Wearing couple rings is the surest way to let the cat out of the bag.
3. Be deaf, dumb and blind for three months.
Don't look at your sweetheart in the office, don't listen to talk about them and don't mention them yourself.
4. When you're caught, use disarming tactics.
"How did you know? Yes, we're dating." People will think you're joking.
5. Train yourself to lie like a pro.
The phrase, "What are you talking about? I'm engaged," ought to trip off the tongue.
6. Turn your backs to each other during work hours.
It's best to keep your distance during work and company gatherings.
7. Remember, no matter high it leaps, it is still a flea.
If you lie to your office sweetheart, the lie wont survive a day. Speak frankly when you can.
8. Don't lust after your sweetheart's ideas.
If you start stealing your sweetheart's ideas, the collapse of the relationship is only a matter of time.
9. Keep your conversations to yourselves.
The moment you tell someone at work something your sweetheart said to you in private, trust will be gone from the relationship.
10. Play dumb about your sweetheart's schedule.
To avoid blurting out details of your sweetheart's schedule you could only know about if you're intimate, train yourself to be indifferent about their schedule.
