I asked my high school students to write a short story about something they saw or heard in the news. One of my students wrote about Muslims wearing a 'chador'. Here's part of her story: (beginning)
"I always wear a long scarf when I go out . I cannot take this off even
in the school or in a hot day...
I believe in Islam and have to keep its rules. We call this scarf a 'chador'
Muslim women have to wear chador. We cover our body from head to toe
with chador. People only can see our hands and face..... "
Besides some of the obvious grammar mistakes I think she did a pretty good job at writing the story. I gave her a B+. I pointed out to her the
above text and told her the confusion I (or any reader) had with it. The
story begins by telling us a chador is a scarf but later it tells us a chador covers 'our body from head to toe.. People only can see our hands and
face...' This passage describes a chador as a robe. Which is it? - a scarf or a robe I ask you. I thought a burqa was a head -covering scarf. No?
I learn something new every week... |

If my student handed that in, I'd ask her/him who wrote it
Then again, your students may be much more creative than mine. |

The chador is the head scarf. The dress part is called something else, but I don't know what. |
