I've watched a few discussions on news shows about Iran the last few days. I've noticed the Iranians do the same thing the Norks do--which is to talk as if the US is the only one involved. Russia and China blocked discussing the Iran situation at the Security Council. A more familiar example is how the Norks keep insisting that only bi-lateral talks with the US will be productive.
Either the world does or doesn't want the NPT. It seems to me that it would be more effective if the IAEA were the one to lead all negotiations dealing with nuclear energy and nukes. If the world doesn't want to deal with it, then scrap the treaty.
In fact, I think I'm for the US and Russia taking nukes out of their arsenals and dealing out 3 or 4 to every country in the world. Then we wouldn't have to listen to anyone whine about being left out of the nuclear club. |

to every country?
I do think that if Iran gets nukes than the US US ought to tell the world that the US will seriously consider quiting the NPT. Maybe tell China that if Iran gets nukes the US will be sure to give Taiwan several nuclear weapons.
I guess the US and the EU could agree to sanction Iran even if the UNSC won't vote for it. The US might be able to bring Japan along as well. This off course assumes that the EU woud go along.
US +EU + Japan would be pretty effecttive sanctions. |

The sanctions wouldn't hurt the leadership in Iran, it'd simply be another case of Saddam v.2.0
Iran isn't going to back down from this. Sure, they'll tap dance to keep people off of their backs to a certain extent, but they're hell bent on getting a nuke. The ball is in our court. |

Where would he get the troops? He certainly isn't going to have much help from the rest of the world if he decides to invade Iran. Even Britain will sit this one out. |

Bombing civilians?
Who said anything about bombing civilians?
Irans' nuclear facilities and the Iranian military would be a potential target if it came to that. |

Civilians always die in these bombing campaigns. Unless you're talking about a one time strike at a very specific target. |

All the U.S. has to do is beat the Iranian conventional forces and declare victory. After that happens, the US will not only win a card from successfully invading, but they will also get extra armies at the beginning of next turn for connecting Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, the card the US got for Iraq already had Iran on it because of all the Shi'a there, so the US will get two extra armies if the US can turn in the three cards it will have upon taking over Iran. |

That sounds like a winning strategy to me. Go for it! |
