Most people out of New Zealand probably have no idea who the hell he is, but one of NEw Zealand's greatest PMs ever. He put through econmic reforms to a country on the verge of bankruptcy and also stood up against pressure from all the big players in the west who sought to bully new zealand against adopting a nuclear free policy.

Lange is a commie tucked away in the middle of the ocean protected from all the bad people by the nakedness of the ocean. He took an easy route by pushing The USA around. Thats really not much of accomplishment. Poland on the other hand, engaged in far more serious and mature work.

You have the arse-end of things dulouz. First of all, he's dead and speaking ill of the dead is crass behaviour. Secondly, he didn't push around the U.S.. What he did was to refuse to be bullied by the U.S. and to act according to his conscience and the best interests of his country and the world. Apparently that is not good enough for you... what would be?

Actually, Lange's finance minister, Sir Roger Douglas, become something of a minor celebrity in my home province of Alberta in the early 90s. He had been hired as a consultant when the Tories were hell-bent on balancing the budget.
