Now, i'm not from the US so perhaps it's not my place to be beaching but...
http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/2005/08/15/Bush_Iraq_edxit_strategy20050815.htmlI coulda sworn that the dems (even this biden fellow, not 2 weeks ago on JS) were complaining that "we had to get the troops out of iraq".
Now they're saying, "they aren't ready for us to leave".
geez...
Do they complain just to keep up appearances that they are opposition?

Biden has been a critic of Bush's behavior in the war, but I don't believe he has ever yet called for bringing the boys (and women) home. Reductions, sure, but at the same time he has complained often that the administration's statments about how ready the Iraqi security forces are to take things over have been exagerations and that there are not nealry enough of them trained and ready, and likely won't be for a while.
He is an unanounced candidate for the next presidential election. To my knowledge, there are not yet any Democrats even making noises about maybe taking a shot at it who are firmly in favor of ending this and coming home as soon as possible - just as John Kerry never made a clear statement about it, either. |

| yes, what Bob said. Biden has merely pointed out the flaws of Bush's "plans" and has never called for us to leave Iraq. Biden, McCain,and Chuck Hegel (R-NB) have had the same tune for most of the war in Iraq. It is one thing many Republicans and Democrats can agree on. |
