Do you think that Israel will ever give up East Jerusalem to the Palestinians? I have serious doubts that Israel would give up control of its holiest site into the hands of Palestinians. But thats just me.
It was interesting the interview on CNN last night in which an interviewee made clear that he supports the retaking of all Palestine and the removal of jews to elsewhere, so I have doubts about whether enough will ever be enough for some people. |

No. Just visit the city and you'll see how mixed it is these days. |

Well of course this is true for both sides- the key is to prevent extremists on both sides from controlling/manipulating the process. |

I understand the comments about extremists. They will never be completely happy, but what about the moderates. Would the Palestinians accept Nablus as their Capital or Maybe Hebron. Or will it be an all or nothing issue?
As to Jerusalem being pretty mixed, I read an article about that and it shows all the new development that is going up to the wall. It would seem too big a mess for anyone to really solve. Does this mean that they will just lob missles across at each other for eternity?
I am just interested in other peoples opinions, not because I think anyone really has a complete and full answer to all the problems there that would help the region, but if you do and everyone agrees. Get out of teaching, you are wasted here. |

The fundamental lack of trust between the two is the problem.
I (and the Israelis) don't believe Palestinians would stop fighting even if they were granted East Jerusalem. They are determined to keep up the bombings until they have routed every jew from that land. Piecemeal compromises by the Israelis only make them redouble their efforts because they see themselves gaining ground. They will pretend to go along with peace deals and anything else that temporarily helps their cause, but renege on them the moment it is advantageous to do so.
Israeli's are defensive, just wanting to hold their own. Arab muslims are pushing to expand and grow beyond what is rightfully theirs. |

I (and the Israelis) |
There you go again. Even if you discount non-Jewish Israelis, there is no monolithic, unified 'Israeli position' for you- in all your munificence- to side with. You continue to ignore this even though it has been pointed out to you time and time again, which makes you either willfully ignorant or truly stupid. My money is on the third option- you are both.

Just when I think you can't get any more ignorant, you manage to top yourself- bravo. |

You are the triumph of optimism over reality.
Unfortunately I understand the motivations of human nature a little better.
Its not a pleasant thing to get to grips with.

Ultimately yes. Humans are overwhelmingly, all-or nothing. This is what the age old epicentre of conflict, jerusalem, will come down to: an all out, international, assault on Israel.
To quote prophecy:
"But when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains."

Well, if you really feel that way and you really know how it's all going to play out, and all humans are vermin anyway, why bother living? |
