Hi Guys,

I'm teaching a lesson on idioms on friday and I wanted to do some cross cultural things. I did it in China and it worked out well, so I was wondering if anyone knows any interesting Korean idioms I can use in my class. The best ones would be those with English counterparts but any will do!

Thanks a lot,

Anthony
PS - If there's a past topic on this, apologies - the search function is not working for me...

The search button can be reaaaaaallly slow sometimes.

I'm not even close to fluent, but I've been paying attention for the last year, so here's what I remember. I'm sure attentive native/bilingual speakers will correct me if I'm wrong.

I saw "Please Teach Me English" last night, and heard a character say "It's carrot!" meaning "Of course!" A father labouring in Korea while his family lives overseas is called a "Goose Father". To black out while drinking is to "cut the film" (thanks Swiss James.) If someone fails to close the door behind them, you can ask them if they have a long tail.

Rats. That's all I can remember right now.

Hello, Opentin!

I have a mailing list on that subject.
You are welcome to join the mailing list, or to look at the past archives.
Go to http://www.yahoogroups.com and enter "10aday" as a search word.
I hope this helps.
