|
|
Okay - on the 16th of May when I told everyone that they now required their university transcripts to be in a sealed -university envelope - many posters replied with such things as "where's your proof/evidence" - you are a "troll" etc........
Then a few days/weeks later - people suddenly realised it was correct - I received NO APOLOGIES????
OK - this time I have more news....
A ONE DAY Japan VISA Run to Osaka/Fukuoka is NOW IMPOSSIBLE - as of August 08th 2005... (don't reply to me saying thats NOT TRUE - if you went before 2005-08-08.........)
Teachers must now be at the embassy in Osaka/Fukuoka before 11:30am and then can ONLY collect their documents the NEXT day at 02:00pm - if you are late the day prior and make it to the embassy after 11:30am - then you have to wait TWO days....
Also if you're planning on going to TOKYO - it now takes 3 days.... same deal as above - get there by 11:30am /or before and wait until the third day after to collect you documents at 02:00pm....
AND remember - Japan Immigration will give you hassles if you arrive without a Hotel booking (or other suitable -proof of where you are going to be staying) - you can NO LONGER write "Korean Embassy" as place of stay.... so book your Hotel whilst in Korea and have some proof/slip of paper as evidence....
Remember - as I did the last time - only trying to advise you guys of the NEW changes - and I don't want any C R A P coming in.... (as replies) |

| Why would you need to write down where you're staying in Japan? When I did my run I didn't write down any address. The immigration officer asked if I was doing a visa run, I said yes and then I got a three-month tourist visa stamped into my passport. So why the sudden change? |

If you're staying for a few hours, they don't care. If you're staying at least one night, it's possible that they will ask.
People need to keep in mind that officials in Japan are just as likely to mix things up as Korean officials here. Don't trust what one single individual says. If anyone denies that visa runs take two days or thinks that things operate over there in a robotic and organized fashion, the joke's on them.
Yesterday: This news has actually been posted a couple of times, but it's ironic how you mention that people discredited you before, and people are doing it again on this thread. |

What they are doing are trying to work out where the inbound tourism is flowing so they can keep track of it...
It isn't a conspiracy theory...
If I come in I will usually just write JR Hotel or Green Hotel(there is one in every city) and they will be happy...you make it look like you need to prove a hotel booking...
I have been in and out of Japan(Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Nagasaki and Fukuoka) over 30 times now and never had any problems as long as you wirte a common hotel down for them |

| Yeah, if they ask where youre staying, just write down the name of any hotel in the area cause they wont check any further. Wonder why theyre changing all this now? Is it the korean embassy that is making the changes or the japanese government? Oh well....a night drinking in japan is never that bad... |

| You are asked to provide an address, if only a hotel, on a Korean landing card as well. What's the big deal? |

Most countries where you have to fill out a landing card also ask this info as long as you're not a transit or one day passenger. Just writing down a random hotel address is fine. It is getting seemingly more and more awkward to get a job in Korea which is a pain but may have some benefits, I can see wages rising as a result of demand for teachers intensifies.
Korea is starting to get a really dodgy reputation, that coupled with annoying transcript hassles coupled with the growing demand in China is going to hopefully make things better in the long run.
I'm an optimist in this regard it is about bloody time wages went up here. The cost of living is getting higher and higher and wages have been pretty static for a long time now. |

i can verify that ... i have just signed a new contract and had to get sealed transcripts sent from australia. they didn't accept the old transcripts i had always used.
so, this is indeed true. |

| maybe you should go back to grade school and learn how to read. I said sealed degree, not sealed transcripts. I know and believe sealed transcripts are required. I am scepticle of a sealed degree being needed. |

You need sealed transcripts, not a sealed degree. |

Who mentioned sealed degree! No-one else brought that wacky concept up, that is why people thought you had mis-typed.
Now, what I want to know if are you sure a sealed passport is needed? I'm a bit sceptical... |
