| I want to go to one of the islands tomorrow, but need to make sure there is somewhere I can sleep. I saw Tour2Korea, but is there another site I can look at that will have ferry times, places to see on the island, etc...just basic travel info. Thanks |

information on going to that place is really unreliable- there seemed to be far more ferries than advertised when I went.
Anyway- have fun, I did. |

Where can I find reliable information regarding the ferry times then? Is this not correct?:
Sat, Sun leaves Incheon 9:30, 1:00 and 4:00
Sat, Sun leaves Deokjeok 10:50, 2:40, 5:10
this was taken from http://www.incheon.go.kr/inpia/en/life/traffic/ferry/ferry01.jsp
I don't want to go out to Incheon and have to wait a few hours, my time is arleady limited. I will try to get someone to call the phone number listed at the top of the website for up to date ferry times |

I looked up a few websites and called the tourist people- they both told me different things. Then when I got there, there were actually more ferries laid on than expected and we didn't have to wait as long as we thought.
I'd recommend just turning as you've already planned (and taking some mosquito repellent). |

The most reliable site for ferry schedules is the Yeonan Budu (Ferry Port) web site. The interface is only in Korean, but it will have up to date ferry schedules and can also tell you how many seats are left on each ship.
If you have a Korean credit card, you can even reserve your tix ahead of time. If not, you'll have to buy your tickets at the ferry port and hope for the best.
As for finding a place to sleep, I wouldn't worry too much about that. Every time I've ever gone to any of those islands there were always people waiting at the ferry pier trying to hawk minbak rooms. |

| Do you happen to know the phone number or website address for the port? Google doesn't turn up much |

Some of my classmates want to to go to Ganghwa-do on Friday morning...but I have heard several people say it's boring. I really want to go to Baengnyongdo but I don't think they have the time to spend.
What close-by island would be cool for a day trip?
Thanks!

Agreed, don't bother with Ganghwado. The only island there is a pain to get to, and is actually a mudflat.
For a daytrip, the best islands are Muido and Eulwangni Beach (on Yeongjeongdo). Both are accessible by Airport Bus from the airport.
If you can spend the night, then I recommend Deokjeokdo and Jawoldo.
Baeknyeongdo, IMHO, isn't really worth the 4-1/2 hour trip (Mithridates may disagree) unless you can bring a car or a moped or even a bicycle with you. It's pretty hard to get around on. |

| Thanks for the suggestions! If I want to go to Baeknyeongdo on my own later, do you (or anyone else) know of a place near the Incheon ferry to rent a bike (not motorbike, just regular bike)? Do people rent bikes in Korea? And how much are they usually? |

I went to Deokjeokdo last weekend and it was a great trip. I was only there for 1 night, but it was really really relaxing and great to get out of the city, even for such a short time.
We were able to rent two bikes for 8,000 won for two hours. We didn't have much time to ride bikes anyways. We stayed near Seapori(?) beach. If you do rent a bike, be prepared for a lot of hills. The weather was awesome...sunny, not too humid, and got a good tan. I would recommend going there |
