|
|
My phone fell out of my pocket in a taxi, and I asked my friend to keep calling it for me. When the taxi driver finally answered, he said that he would give it back to me for 50,000 won. My friend automatically told him no, and he got pissed and hung up. I told her to call her him back and to tell him that I'll meet him, and then I would take care of it from there (taking care of it meaning that there might be a little scuffle...or not)
However, now he's not answering, and my friend said that the drivers can sell the phones that they find. This isn't a pre-paid phone...I actually pay monthly like a normal person. If I call and cancel it and report it stolen, will someone get busted for using it if they try to use it or register it? Or if they try to change it to a pre-paid phone?
Or should I just assume that there won't be any retribution and I should just learn my lesson about the kindness of strangers? |

just ask the phone company if they can trace any calls he makes, like who the calls went to. maybe they can get the guys name and address
also, i doubt they will use it as a "pay as you go" phone like foreigners do. do you know how much a minute they charge?? its crazy |

| Get your friend to send a message to your phone. He may not be answering the calls but he'll probably read the messages. You could say you'll pay the money or whatever, and try to get him to meet you. You didnt by any chance get a receipt from him? That could be really helpful! |

This happened to me too. I had to go all the way across town in a cab (about 13,000 won one way) to meet the guy at his house to get my phone back.
He gave the phone, I said 'Thank you', gave him a polite bow, and turned to get back into my taxi.
Then he demanded the money. I refused, he started in with all the 'kaeseki-ah' stuff...got in my face...so I knocked him on his ass. Then I got in the cab and left.
You find my phone, and BRING IT TO ME, I'll pay you a reward. If you do nothing more than answer a phone that you found, and tell me where to come and get it...you haven't earned fifty bucks.
BTW, if I find any of your phones, come and get it...free of charge.
Lost dog=50 bucks. Sheesh... |

If the taxi driver doesn't answer the phone by now then you should cancel the service as he could be calling anywhere and everywhere and you would have to pay for it.
I heard too if the phone isn't off then you can find out where it is 'cas all the phones here are GPS/satellite. But that doen't mean that you can get it back.
Try ringing again and of there is no answer then cancel it.
Having said all that I would go with Driver's method! |

So they use Korean CDMA phones in China? Is that how they roam outside Korea? |

Only lost a phone this time? I wonder what reward they expect when they find the friend you lost because you can't remeber which hotel you left them in? |

Why is that being cheap? he told me he would drop it off when he was back in the area. since when has there been a set limit on how much you pay someone for being a nice guy. 20,000? god, i could buy another phone for that, and its NOT as if my whole life was on it, sheez, my phones not THAT important to me.
btw diver, that wasnt me who left my mate in the hotel! ill tell you about it when i see you next! |
