Waiting on pension refund?

After I finished my contract I went home to the states. I surrenderd my ARC card to immigration, so presumably when I come back to Korea I'll have a new AR number and everything.

And when I do come back (probably in January) I'm planning on staying for a while, as I'm planning to ask my girlfriend to marry me.

So my question is, should I get my pension refund now, or wait? If I don't do it before getting a new ARC will I be SOL on getting this money? Or, if I do it now would that complicate a potential future refund?

Your ARC number won't change when you come back.

Also about pension, something I learned is if your different employers report your name differently, it can be tricky to get all the money you are entitled to. Make sure you get them to do a search and put all your contributions under one name.

I'd suggest wait, because it takes 4-6 weeks before you get the cash back anyways, and when you leave forever, you will be glad to have a nice little nest egg.

Mr. Pink is on top of things. Just be sure your name gets entered correctly, although the ARC number 'should' take care of it. I had a gap of several years between contributions to my pension fund and had no problems with all the money ending up in one pile.

You do know that you have the option of having it deposited into your Social Security account, don't you?

Ya-ta Boy, what are you talking about? There are no personal Social Security accounts -- Bush hasn't had his way yet.

Anyway. So I'll just have to make sure I get the same ARC number when I go back. But if I need the money before I go back, getting it now won't make it more difficult in the future right?
