As a child of the '70s, I remember most of my clothing had zippers and the zippers were zipped up with these really big gaudy peace sign zipper pulls. I remember where I was when I heard Nixon was stepping down. "Yom Kippur" and "War" will always go together for me.

I went to Disney World during the American bicentennial. I truly believe historians will mark the start of the end of Western civilization when they took School House Rock off the air. Instead of teaching kids about grammar and science, they now run PSAs telling 8 year olds not to bring handguns to school and stay off drugs. Bloody pathetic.

I remember watching several of the Apollo moon landings. In some ways I pity those who never got to witness this first hand, while it happened. One's idea of space is either just the space shuttle or Star Trek the Next Generation. I also pity people who never got to see Star Wars first run in a movie theater. Apollo and Star Wars more than made up for the bell bottoms we had to wear.
