| my frind is all set to come over, but i wanted to verify somethng about a question he had. now the school is ready to send him the one-way ticket to him, the return will be kept by the school and NOT given to him, but when he gets to customs, what if they ask him where his return is or whatever? since he'd have to be coming on a tourist visa, does he have to lie or say he going to sign a contract with a school and tell the truth???? thx |

Immigration are often not the problem. A lot of airlines will not let you into the country without either an onward ticket or an appropriate visa. I don't think immigration bother because they get the airlines to do it, the airlines apprently get a big fine or something if they allow you in.
If your mate hasn't got a visa or an onward ticket he may be heading for trouble. If he's not got a visa then he'll have to do a visa run anyway, get the school to send him his Japan ticket for the run and hey presto he has an onward ticket and should have no problems. |

thats a bit weird..
if he has a ticket supplied, he should have a completed contract and working visa..
it is unusual to be given a plane ticket to come to korea without an e2 visa cuz then he'd have to go offshore again anyways to get his working visa.. it would be a stupid school that worked that way..
that said, i've come in twice on tourist visas without a return ticket and never had a hassle... |

well, they send him the contract online. he has to fill everything in, send the appropriate documents and then send it back like asap since the school year is coming quickly or whatever.
i thought it strange as well, having to come on a tourist, then leave again. but this is his firts time coming, and he wouldnt know what to do going to another country first and then korea for a visa. |

Some people do not have a problem coming in with a one way ticket.
There has been postings about this issue. Try to find it.
Also, some airlines are stricter than others if I remember. |
