www.sawadee.com

There are lots and lots of choices on there. I have my favorite, but no one else likes it so I will keep my mouth shut.

I find the prices on that site to be pretty accurate.

We got married here.

North coast, quiet enough but accessible to Chaweng by a 15 min motorcycle ride.

A bit pricey but GORGEOUS. The interiors are all decorated with Thai and Burmese antiques.

Run by Thai Antique dealer and her Belgian Husband. French and Thai food.

Basically, two years ago we took a week to go find our place for the big shindig. Found this place on the internet, went there first. Then spent the next four days checking out EVERY place on the island with a swimming pool. No comparison. This was the best while still seeming intimate.

I was there for 2 weeks last year and tried out a few places recommended to me but by far the best, most affordable place was Chaweng Cove Resotel

It's right in the center of the action. The rooms are spotless. They have a three-tired pool...situated on the best part of the beach..loved it. If/when i go back I'll go to no other place.

I stayed in Nara Garden Resort a couple of times. First time it was nice, just far from towns, situated right on the northern beach.

Second time, though, it didn't really strike me the same way. Not sure why.

Both times, I got bored after a few days. Something to keep in mind if you are comparing proximity to town versus noise factor.
