Import cars up to 30 percent more expensive here
For example, the Lexus LS430 premium grade, the most expensive car sold by Toyota Korea, is sold for 112 million won. The same car goes for less than $60,000 in the United States as its manufacturer's suggested retail price is $57,515 including the options of a premium package worth about $1,400.

Similarly, the BMW 760Li, the most luxurious car sold by BMW Group Korea, priced at over 253 million won, is traded for less than $143,000 (157 million won) in the U.S., according to the German automaker.

Read this article, very very interesting. It shows you how badly Korean companies that import goods take advantage of Koreans.

If you ever thought about opening a business in this country, import things. You can do an honest trade and make pretty good money while beating the hell out of your competitor's prices (which they will never lower until it is too late and their company is ruined).

In addition, I always have gotten a kick out of the fact the computer RAM is more expensive here in Koera where the best RAM is made, than the US where it is imported and a tax levied.

so I guess rich koreans are just importing cars themselves and not worrying about paying an extra 25million to the dealer for his profit!

the government does it this way I guess.. becuase if they didnt have a high tax rate,.. every korean and his dog would be bringing in a foreign car and no body would be buying korean made cars! and if no one buys them here they will go broke! because not many people buy them overseas hahahaha

You mean a rich Korean would go through the effort of importing a car? Don't think so. They pay someone to import used cars for them and the guy up charges a good bit.
