|
|
Hi there!
I just got my E-2 Visa from the Korean Consulate in Toronto. I paid the $65 dollars, handed in all my documents and received my passport back with the shiny new stamp in it, detailing that I was given an E-2 Visa, period of sojourn for one year (01Y). However, while the issue date is correct at 2005/08/26, the date of expiry states 2005/11/26 - 3 months or 90 days, not 1 year. I'm sorry if this is a boneheaded question, but does the date of expiry matter or the period of sojourn count?
Thanks for your help...just wondering and all since I assumed I picked up a Visa for one year but am not sure if it is valid given the expiry date thing. Is it because it is a single entry visa and I must enter the country before the expiration date?
Cheers and thanks again. |

| This is perfectly normal. You have three months (but should do it sooner) to go to immigration with your employer and register for an Alien Registration Certificate (ARC). Then you'll be good for a full year. Notice that your visa has an expirey date three month from now, but 'period of sojourn' says 1Y. You're fine. |

Hooray! Thanks so much for your help. I was just double checking (have a terrible tendency to be overly cautious).
Cheers:) |

I know the feeling.
Depending on how much experience your new employer has with foreigners, you may have to explain everything to them. Mine didn't know I had to leave Korea to get a new visa, and I'm not sure they yet understand why I had to go to Japan. |

| The 90-day expiry date on the visa freaked me out too... until the consular officer explained it to me. |
