Just moved to Ulsan yesterday. So - what's going on here? Are there many foreigners here? I met a few last night, seems like a small close knit group. I'm wondering where the interesting things to do are - a good gym, a Hapkido class, a place to go hiking, some foreigner bars or movie theatres, or any other suggestions anyone has for what's up in Ulsan. Any advice?

You can do a search about ulsan on daves here and find out about some of this stuff. I used to do hapkido before it started to bother my knees. I know there are numerous hapkido places in okdong but i know nothing about them. I don't know about the gyms in Okdong either. Have you checked out www.theulsanweb.com they have some info there on foreigner bars. here is the web address to one of the foreigner bars. http://benchwarmers.topcities.com
I can't think of anything else to say at the moment.

Thanks for the plug Animalbirdfish. As for Ulsan, it's not a bad place to live- Hell I've been there for three years. Not much up there in Okdong but it's all pretty close to town. If you get into trouble or would like to know what is going on PM me.

I lived there for almost two years from 2002-2003, mostly because I had a girlfriend there otherwise I would have hightailed it much sooner. I was bored a lot. The only thing to do, at least back then, was to go to one of two bars downtown and get drunk with other foreigners. Ulsan has some of the worst air in the world because of all the chemical plants. Sometimes at night on a humid day the air turns orange in the hills. Hope this helps.

Uwww.ulsanweb.com may give you some better information.
