Does anyone know of any big supermarkets in the Gangnam area, like LG (now GS) or E-Mart? The closest ones I know of (where I can buy groceries) are Walmart and Hyundai Department Store at the COEX Mall, but I want to know if there is one closer to Gangnam as both of these places are a couple of subway stops away.

Also, does anyone know if there is an E-Mart that's close to Seoul Dae? I know there's one at Guro Digital Complex but is there one closer - on the green line (line 2) at least - and one that's closer to the station than the Guro DC E-Mart is?

Thanks. Now I remember seeing that one.

Anything closer to Itaewon? I can get lots of crap cheap in the little markets and trucks and stuff, but certain things (like spaghetti noodles and chicken breasts) are harder to come by.

Two in Itaewon

1) At the T-junction facing Hamilton Hotel, cross the road from the Hamilton to Steff Houlberg hot dog bar (across the road from Burger King). Walk down and behind Steff Houlberg, there is a supermarket with a Haitai logo. Busy, where the locals go for fruit and veg. Next to a bar called ?Gecko's?

2) more like a very large Mom & Pop store, but has more relevant stuff than above, like baked beans. Cross the road to Burger King, go past it and walk along the main road till you go past the fire station, turn right into a road going up the hill, the road leading to the mosque (Hooker Hill?) It is in the basement on your left, about half way up the hill, in the buidling before the Indian shop. Has separate butcher's counter. Run by a very sweet elderly couple.

I've asked this question over at the q&a forum already but sorry, this is important to me.

Are there any stores that carry PG Tips and Marmite?

Thanks.

I feel your pain........

British-style teabags are something I've yet to find after 5 years in Korea. You can get gourmet brands of Darjeeling and English Breakfast Tea in Hyundai Dept Store and Shinsegae but the price is ridiculous. I get them sent from home. It works out cheaper and more reliable. Teabags aren't heavy so postage is cheap. My mate just brought me back a huge box of PG tips which will last me for months.

Marmite???..........Do people still eat that?

There's a Carrefour at World Cup Stadium... not in Itaewon by any means, but at least right on the same subway line (of course, when I lived in Seoul that's exactly how I defined "close").

Where in Gangnam? There's a big Kim's club near the express bus terminal. Not exactly what you asked for but...there's a street market near Kyobo tower. It has cheap stuff; veg, meat, kimchee makings, various Korean food items. Next closest gib supermkts are E-Mart in Yangjae and Lottemart in Jamshil. PM for exact directions.
