I saw an advert for some officetel on the subway - but what caught my eye was it was advertised as being next to a subway station that doesn't exist. That confused me a little, until I realised it was on a new subway line being built from Suwon station.

They had a little map - marked on was one line going west (didn't write down anything about it) and one going east (marked д缱 ()) which I took notice of, since û would be 5 minutes walk from my house.

Anyone know owt about these plans?

There is also a new line going right by our villa in Hongdae out to the Incheon airport. They're digging like crazy just accross the street.

So, things become clearer...

This site says that the Bundang line is being extended to Yongin. I finally know where Yongin is, having been there on a run earlier Smile So now I understand.

Presumably they've also agreed to extend the extension to Suwon Station. There're signs up on the officetels appearing near city hall to say how close they'll be to the new station, at least.

ps. Thanks to the two waegook lassies out speedwalking who said hello - cheered me up no end after being ignored completely even by the Korean joggers.

pps. The young kids who asked me whether I was American and were then bowled over when I said (as politely as I knew how) that no, I was British, and bowed for comic effect, also cheered me up.

ppps. I'll never understand conversations like this:
Korean middle school kid: HelloHowareyouI'mfineThankYouGoodbye!
Me: Shocked Shocked Shocked Laughing

Yea, I looked at a real estate map a few months back and noticed the planned stations between Bundang and Suwon Station. If I were still living there, it would've been awesome, since the bus between Bundang and Suwon is so slow.

I also noticed guys working on a line of something above-ground along the Incheon Expressway, so they're trying to connect the airport directly with public transit aside from buses.

I was just checking out the new construction projects for the subway in Seoul. It's pretty impressive now (with the exception that they didn't connect Incheon Airport to the existing subway when the place opened) and should be pretty sweet when it's all said and done (if they ever stop).

When I lived in Inchon I saw a map that showed line I extending from inchon station back toward seoul and conecting with Woninjae station then going on through ansan, suwon adn Bundang. Interestingly, one day I was near Woninjae station and looked around and saw an overpass that is empty. Further exporation and a bit of a walk showed me that the line is about half built in inchon, even with a few station plaza's but no stations. My guess is that at some time around IMF time fundign dried up and never got going again.

how did you find out about this? The only thing I can seem to work out about the new airport line is that it will connect to Gimpo.

It's covered in Chapter 4 of your Korean textbook.
