I think you can only enter the USA with a certain amount of American Dollars. Does anyone know the limit? After crossing the limit i think you have to pay tax on it? Is that right?
anyone know more on this? |

| I think it is $10,000 US. After that you have to declare. |

There is no limit.
If you earned it legitimately and you're good with the IRS you can bring it into the United States. Yes, you must inform customs of amounts over $10,000. Still, you could bring a briefcase with $80,000, declare it using the proper form, and nobody will even look at you funny.
Sure, they'll contact the IRS. But if you earned the money at a legal job, paid Korean income tax, and filed a tax return with the IRS documenting everything you won't have problems with them either. |

| Whoa there. Be careful. You are talking about only some of the rules for Cash. If you are carrying any unusually large amount of cash into the US, it can be "legally" confiscated by the DEA and any other gov't agent empowered to arrest you under Federal law. And almost any amount could be considered "unusually large" by the DEA. The "war on drugs" (which is nothing less than a war on liberty) has been heated up to such a level that if you have cash, they can take it first and then force you to prove where it came from. If you say you earned it teaching and saved it, they will make you prove it. And if they don't believe you, like "hey, nobody can save 50% of their earnings" then bingo, they never have to give it back. The law today. Appeal, appeal. They will keep it and your legal bills will excede the amount of cash in question in no time. This is true, even if they cannot convict you of any crime. This is true, even if they never actually charge you with any crime. Beware. |
