My friend and I are heading to Busan this friday night for the weekend and we'd like to find some cool spots to party, so could anyone in the know enlighten us as to where the coolest bars, pubs and clubs in Busan are? Which places are not to be missed?
On saturday we'd like to see some of the local sights such as temples, pagoda's etc..so what would you recommend that we see? And could someone also recommend a decent hotel/motel/guesthouse that's not too far away from Busan station, as we'll be arriving late at night without a hotel reservation.
Thanks for any info. |

Some important see and dos
1) I'd say beomeosa.
It's a nice temple and quite secluded. It's on the subway line that BS (busan station about stop 12 i think?) is on. I think beomeosa i around 32/33 station?
I can't give good directions after that..but get in a taxi and ask...stroll around..then walk back to the subway... that maybe best.
Bars:
PNU area:
Depends on what you want to do.
just kick it, play some fooz and drink some beer and chat up the local etc...
1) Crossroads.
2) Camel (haven't been..heard it's nice)
3) Basement (right under crossroads.
For dancing
4) Soul Trane
(for hip hop dancing...perhaps korean and probably avoidable by now)
5) interplay.
1, 3, and 4 are within about 30 m of each other.
Get out of PNU (pusan national uni. station)..go out the side that appears to have more shops and stuff (you'll know). Walk straight away from that station up to the first bigish road (2lanes each way)
Turn right...keep walking down that street until you get to a big white building called "White house" (white "something..."i think house").
Turn left there (and cross the street). You'll see soultrane about one or two buildings down (in the basement of the building).
Go up to the first intersection. crossroads is on the second floor and the rightside. The basement (as the name implies) is in the basement of that buildling.

This area is pretty pumpin' on saturday night (though i'm sure friday is fine too
It's on the second line stop...213 i think.
there is
foxy.
vinyl underground (vinyl)
ahhh...forget it...

stroll around pusanweb for any info regarding pusan.
Really, that website should be stickied here (as well as all of those KOREABRIDGE websites....) |

There is an awesome Irish Pub near the Gaya () subway stop (221). When you exit the station, go to the left and up straight. It will be on the left 100 feet down the street. White sign with green letters - Obrien's. It has a super friendly bartender. Go. |

Just a quick update about my weekend in Busan. We arrived at 3am on saturday morning and stayed for two nights at the Arirang Hotel, conveniently located just next to Busan station. I paid around 50.000won for two nights and the room was decent and clean with cable TV and a private bathroom.
We visited Beomosa temple, got there by taxi, and the Seomyeon area then went for a pint at O'Briens in Gaya and later hit Vinyl Underground near Kyungsuk Univ which was ok but I have to say that there were way too many foreign guys in that place.
All in all it was a good weekend and I found Busan to be a much more relaxed and laid back kind of place. Even the taxi drivers were friendly and spoke some English. By the way, what's with all the Russians living down there? |
