Hey! all you yanks over in korea, if youve not seen on the news theres quite a crises over here in the states the gulf coast was ravaged by hurricane katrina, and due to the immense flooding(new orleans) its basically close to being atlantis, we will rebuild but we all need to pull together and give to the cause, there are many ways in which to contribute, and since most of you are stealing from those poor koreans by parading that your actually helping them learn english I think a few hundred or thousand won would be well within your grasp, so take a break from all night drinking and puking one night this week and wire some money if you can. If you cant, please pray for the thousands of souls who have and will lose their lives due to this catastrophe. Please no messages about how New Orleans is a poorly planned city and was asking for trouble, anyway hope all is well in the land of the morning calm. God bless

Far from sublime in any estimation. A few hundred or a few thousand won MIGHT amount to a pot to p1ss in for one of the lucky survivors. I'm just an English teacher, not a math genius, but they need a LOT more than a couple of cents. Some people have wives and kids to think about, not all of us fritter away our lives over here. I don't steal from anyone to put bread on my table or pork in my belly...my students live in unimaginable luxury while my wife and I live in an apartment not big enough to swing a cat in. Americans are actually advised NOT to come here because making an honest living here isn't as easy as people like you want to believe.

God bless, huh? If there actually WAS a god and you were up to a$$hole in mud and dead bodies, do you think you might question why God in his infinite goodwill and wisdom chose to challenge your faith in such loathesome way? What "great purpose" O Lord, does it serve for my children to see their friends and neighbors dead and bloated in the floodwaters, with no dry bed in which to have nightmares about this "act of God"? How is it that rape, murder, and theft have prevailed over light of your unestimable love? If you can CAUSE such things to happen then you most certainly can intervene on behalf of the innocent and righteous?
*the silence was deafening as no answer came*

Hey I got a great idea, instead of shaking down people who probably don't give a crap, mostly Canucks with their own financial problems over here why don't you write to that good old white knight of christianity, Pat Robertson and all of his wealthy buddies and ask them if the might be able to find it in their hearts to help out the soggybottom boys down in New Orleans? What greater penence for endorsing murder than to help those in need? Especially when he has so much, and they so little. What greater way to help people forget all the pridefull and stupid things he's said, than to counterbalance his hubris with an equal amount of charity???

I don't know how you've managed to connive a salary or hourly wage SublimeShawn, but don't make assumptions MY disposable income. How much have you given? How much has our fearless leader given out of his own VERY deep pockets? How much have all the war profiteers at Halliburton, General Dynamics, and Lockheed-Martin given to express their boundless patriotism and love for their countrymen? How much have all the good church-going good Samaritans of our great nation given to feed our brethren? I'm sure since they feel the need to legislate morality and institutionalize the tenets of their beleif system that they would make ANY sacrifice to help others in such dire need.

You're absolutely right, this is a great opportunity for one all (perhaps those we helped in the past?) to come to the aid the USA. Natural disasters in other countries have become an invitation for American goodwill overseas, what aid will the hurricane victims see from our friends now? And Since the people of America saw fit to give our Ivy-League C-student, blue-blooded, patrician parasite of a president another term, perhaps we can believe in enough that he will use our resources to resolve this matter quickly and satisfactorily.

Whose house are you rebuilding in all your sublimnity, Shawn?

Blab blah blah. Point is. There was what could possible be called the worst natural disaster in our country's history. People need help, donations of money, food, water, whatever. If a person gives $2000 or $2 that's great. Anything is better than nothing. In terms of politics HELL f-ing yeah the rest of the world better be knocking down our doors with offers of help. There should be a FLOODtide of help and offers to help from everywhere in the world. The US has helped in almost every major disaster relief - obviously one good turn deserves another regardless of politics. It's called goodwill towards people.

Wow, may you and yours never get caught in such a situation, PT.

I fiind the actions of the current U.S govenment to be more than a little irresponsible but that doesn't mean that the people of New Orleans don't deserve what sympathy and charity they can get now.

While I agree with Peppermint that PT's post was a little over-the-top, I also think that the OP was worded quite rudely --

"most of you are stealing from those poor koreans by parading that your actually helping them learn english I think a few hundred or thousand won would be well within your grasp, so take a break from all night drinking and puking one night this week and wire some money if you can."

That's just a little bit harsh, don't you think? Poor Koreans? Stealing from them? All night drinking and puking most nights of the week?

Insulting people isn't really the best way to ask for money.

How 'bout writing something along the lines of --

"To those who are looking for a plce to donate money to the victims who are suffering in New Orleans, donations are accepted at the following places in Korea, or can be sent via wire transfer to the following locations abroad. Thanks for your support."

Would be a wee bit more effective, I think.

I don't know the OP but it seemed to me like he was using humor to drum up donations. I also got the impression that he has been an expat here in the past. I may be way off but that was my impression.

The money would be much better spent in much poorer countries. American like to blag about how rich they are all the time and you American guys and gals pay loads of tax.

If you can afford a huge army then you can afford to sort out a little domestic disaster. OK I'm being an A hole here but you cannot as a nation brag about your wealth and omnipotent military power then come out with your begging hat!

Bollocks to you. I feel for the people there but my extra cash goes elsewhere. America is the richest country therefore America should pay. When we have a natural disaster in the UK do we ever beg for money?

The OP should be ashamed, no so much for his thread but for the fact that he is a begging *beep*. OK the victims are in a state, but that's your governments job not ours. Less able countries manage to get through horrible problems with minimal assistance, surely the all powerful united states should be able to deal with this fairly minor one on its own.

Individually, the vast majorty of Americans are wonderful people and would give you the 'shirt off their back' without knowing you. Collectively, they're the most ignorant people on the face of the earth.. and they don't 'get it'.

Don't you worry. The House just passed a $10.5 billion hurricane relief package, and the President says he'll be signing it today or tonight. So you can take your sermonizing and stick it up your ass.

By the way, I'm saving your post and will forward it to CNN next time the UK takes a hit...Katrina is "a little domestic disaster." Rolling Eyes
