Is there any place I can get my birks 'officially' repaired?
Or do I just take them to the local shoe guy in the hut on the corner?
I know I can send them back home to be done, but would rather get them down in Korea.
Thanks in advance |

Since arriving in Seoul I have had to get my birkenstocks repaired.
Go to the 'New Balance' shop in Itaewon (I'm assuming you live in Seoul) and the dude behind the counter will sort you out. He speaks reasonable english. Its on the Pizza hut side of the road.
From memory its reasonably cheap. I got both soles repaired for around 15, 000 won. It takes about one and a half weeks for the job.
Good luck |

Is this just a regular old shoe sole or a hemp hippie type sole? I ask because if they are just regular soles that is a bit much and no need to go to Itaewon. Any of those little shoe shine places on the sidewalks will do it in ten minutes and for under 10k. |

| This is an authentic 'Birkenstock' sole. Birkenstock's aren't the cheapest sandal on the market. I therefore would not recommend going to a shoe shine on the side of the road unless you are willing him to mangle your shoe. |

| At Apkujeong station there is a shoe repaire place that is a bit more upscale. I've had them remove the rubber soul and replace them for about 20,000 won. Pretty good job. It takes about 2 or 3 days. There's an orange sign hanging above the shop. Sorry, I can't remember much else. |
