It depends on what you like to eat and whether you want to go for western, Korean, or international fare.
Do you have any ideas what kind of meal you'd like and how big/quiet an affair you want to have?
Some people love celebrating at the Ariana Hotel, where, for less than 15000 won, you can have live entertainment, an all you can eat buffet, and all you can drink beer (microbrewed) from 5;00 PM to 9:00 PM every night.

This is exactly what I was going to recommend.
For good pasta, you could also try going to Italy Italy. There, you can customise your entire dish according to type of pasta, sauce, and extras like toppings and added chicken, etc. |

there is an awesome chinese food restaurant called YE GOONG. actually there are a few locations in daegu...but the main location has an awesome interior and really good food. the center chandelier is a big half sphere that takes up a huge chunk of space.
it's located near the children's park in SUSUNG GU. there is a T-intersection at children's park (uh-rin-ee hwe-gwan). follow the street that leads AWAY from the park...not the one that runs perpendicular. travel about 1kilometer towards camp walker and you will see it on the right.
Also in SUSUNG GU across the road from TBC TV studio and ARIANNA HOTEL, there is a great VIETNAMESE place. the interior is also fantastic with many imported Vietnamese cultural items. The restaurant is called XIN CHAO...not to be confused with it's sister restaurant downtown...this one is excellent.
Next to XIN CHAO is a large white chinese restaurant...the name escapes me, though. this chinese restaurant is divided in half on the inside. the other half is a THAI joint. the chefs are Thai nationals. the Thai restaurant is called MK SUKI....also not to be confused with another one downtown. there is an english speaking host who is really friendly and helpful.
if you want something REALLY SWANK...there is a french/italian fine dining place near MBC. it's called ATRIUM. they have a great wine list and an excellent menu...reasonably priced Table d'ot. to find atrium, turn down the little tiny street that goes down the right side of MBC TV studio. follow that little street at least a kilometer...it curves to the right after a bit...there will be signs posted. the restaurant also has a great view as it is located on a hillside. |

Thanks so much for the info. I went to that vietnamese place. Had vietnamese food, chinese food and korean (the kimchi) all in one meal. Probably the best meal i've had since I came here.
What I really enjoyed was seeing a part of Deagu I haven't seen yet.....well not like i've seen much of it but.... it was nice to go to an area that made me feel like i got away for the evening. What's up with that area? What's it like on the weekends? |

the bar in the basement of the ARIANNA HOTEL is alright. (ARIANA BRAU) it's a brew pub. they make mediocre beer. they have a band playing cover songs nightly...i think they are from Hungary...anywyay they seem to get the crowd going.
other than that, not much night life in the area. foreigners out here tend to scatter among korean bars in JISAN DONG behind the DONGA department store..
back near the ARIANNA BRAU, there's Susung Pond. walk from the hotel towards the mountains. cross the 5way intersection keep walking towards the mountains and you'll see the man-made reservior with a perimeter path and small amusement park on the far side. |
