HI! I am returning to Taegu on vacation for our son's first birthday next month to spend it with his Korean grandparents and we need some baby supplies for our son (for 11 days).
I was going to have my sister-in-law buy some baby formula, jars of baby food (something similar to Gerber), diapers (which brand is good in korea for a big baby (around 25 lbs/he usually wears Pampers)?) , baby wipes, cheerios, and anything else you can think of that i didn't list before we came. She is single and doesn't have any experience buying this stuff so to make it easier on her, I thought i would try to find out where she can go to buy it. Where can she buy this stuff in Taegu? Any info. would be great! THANK YOU!

Gerber is available in all supermarkets - Emart, Carrefour. Formula, too.

As for diapers, I'd suggest Huggies Gold, that seems to be the best for a big baby - friend with a big baby uses that says it's one that doesn't leak too much - unless she forgets to change him for, like, 6 hours.. haha...

Again, baby wipes are available in all supermarkets. I personally prefer a brand called *Dr. Atopi*. It's wonderfully thick and soft, albeit expensive! It's in a green packet, which can be found in supermarket, too...

Cheerios are available at Costco.

Basically, you can buy ALL your supplies in any big supermarkets. They have excellent baby sections.

Walmart and Carrefour are good places to shop.

They don't have Pampers here. Huggies are okay but expensive.

I disagree that they have excellent baby sections--not compared to Canada anyway. Everything's overpriced and there's hardly any choice.

That said, it's better than it was a few years ago.

Regarding the jars of baby food, what food choices do I have? I was hoping to have SIL pick up some jars of fruit and some jars of vegetables in order to reduce our luggage weight since he doesn't eat alot of table food yet. Thanks for all the tips so far Tzechuk and Corporal!

The Carrefour here in Daejeon has 2 long aisles of baby things, plus a further aisle for nappies - I consider that to be a pretty good display... but that's just my opinion.

Anyway, TG, you can get applesauce, bananas, peach etc... from stage 1 through to stage 3. You can also get spinach, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes and so forth.

If by any chance your sister in law cannot find them in the supermarket, I can direct you to a website where I got mine from - since my husband is so busy, I tend to get most things online, saves me from having to carry them home (which is difficult now that Letty is getting so big, she is heavy, I don't want to have to carry heavy groceries too.. lol)..

So let me know how you get on.. and I will be glad to let your SIL have more information.

Actually the Daejeon Carrefour is better than the Daegu one (or the Ulsan one) in general.

One last question. Hubby was either looking at Carrefour or Costco's website in Korea to see about the baby stuff too. I saw a picture of diapers that look suspiciously like Pamper's except with a different name (Cutie), have you ever tried them? Any good???

I think Cutie and pamoers are made by the same company. I used them. Not good, I am afraid.
