Korean Immigration in Osaka didnt want to issue more C-4 (90 day temporary worker visas) to me. The last one expired last March. Ive been here in Oregon for the last 7 months. Id like to come back to Korea to work and the C-4 is a pretty handy visa for short term work. Would I have a better chance for a C-4 if my passport didnt have any of my previous history or does immigration have all of our histories on a computer anyway?

'Lose' has one 'o'. If it was me I'd want to know.

Never "lose" your passport: it's not worth the hassle in the years to come. Wouldn't make a difference anyways. Immigration has your visa/work history on computer file even if you get a new passport number.

yeramin probably didn't mean this, but he might have:

90+% of Koreans write "lose" as loose."

Perhaps he was being savvier than though.

Anyway, yeramin, tell us about the c-visa. Can anyone get one? What are the conditions?

How is losing your passport and getting another in the years to come a hassle?

Why not just, like, get an E2 visa?

Agreed.

It's not worth the hassle -- also, when I lost mine (legitimately -- well it was stolen I guess), I had to contact the local police, the bus where it was lost, prove that I had done these things and also swear that I lost my passport legitimately -- and not sold it or any other such thing. My next passport was a temporary one, expired within a year. If I had lost that one as well within that year, or had it stolen, the Canadian government would have been able to refuse to reissue a new passport (possibly ever, although I'm not sure about this).

It was a nerve-wracking year and I didn't feel like Canada had totally forgiven me until that year was over.

What are you possibly thinking? For one thing, I'm not going into the multiple reasons to do this. Taiwan might be more your speed at this point.

I know a friend who left Korea on a Irish passport. Not sure if he had a Canadian passport also or if he went to Canada and changed it?? but he entered Korea with a Canadian passport a few months later.

He tried to get a work visa and they had all his info on file...so they check your name. Not just your passport number.

So, they'll have your history on file.
