Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Seoul Olympic Park (Olympic Hall)
AWESOME.
I actually went to Osaka to see him live two years back, and was thinking about doing the same this year. Now I don't have to! Say what you want about Trent Reznor or the music style or whatever- a live NIN show is a maelstrom. This is gonna be on five days after I get back from my honeymoon, and now I can't really say which one I'm looking forward to more!
Tickets are on sale tomorrow here.

I know, that always happens with big shows here. If my schedule's anything like last semester's though, I should have Wednesdays off. Yeeha. |

It's Korea. Last year's Metallica/Tool show was about 120k.
8pm is quite early but maybe doable. Is there still no word on who the opening act is? |

Does anyone know if ticketpark accepts foreign credit cards? A couple years ago I tried to buy tickets to Marylin Manson and they wouldn't take my card. |

I think there may not be any seating for those who want to get up close to the band.
A buddy of mine saw them in a club in Tokyo in May. He paid 8,000 yen (about the same price). He was just 5 people from Trent Reznor & friends. He said the heat was almost unbearable, but the show was really good.
Hope it ain't too hot at this venue. |

It only took Korea 13 months to have another good, large concert. |

I was just reading on the ticketpark site and it appears that there is seating. Tickets are 88 000 (with tax) for standing and I think it said 77 000 for seats.
To answer my own question, it appears they do take VISA. However it makes no mention on whether it is strictly Korean issued visa or not.
Are tickets on sale now? I went to buy, but the site isn't Mac friendly. It works fine until I click the "reserve" button and then it all goes to gibberish. I can still navigate it well enough, but I can't seem to find a "checkout" (or the Korean equvilent) button. |

Tickets go on sale at 2 PM today. I'm not sure about foreign cards, but I don't think they'd be a problem. I'll just be using my Samsung card, though.
As far as seating goes, I'm pretty sure it's the same as it was for the Offspring concert I went to there a few years ago (not a big fan, but a show's a show)... The expensive tix are for the seating area on the main concourse, but there are no seats. Basically, if you can make your way up to the front and battle it out up there, you're next to the band (I managed that two years ago at NIN in Osaka ^^). If that's not your style, well, you're still going to be pretty close, as the venue is not all that big. The cheaper tickets are for the raised section at the back where there are seats (not sure if they're assigned or not). I'd buy these tickets only if you aren't much into the band or if your legs are broken. |

It does feel expensive doesn't it? For that kind of gig.
On the other hand, it costs a lot of money to bring these bands to Korea.
Like other artists, Reznor has paid his dues going through the lean early years.
It's worth the money I think. |

I saw NIN at Big Day Out in Sydney back in 2000 and the crowd was insane. There were more spikey dog collars, leashes, handcuffs and eyeliner than you could shake a stick at, and as soon as Trent et al came out I was nearly crushed as everyone rushed to the front. I could barely breath it was so hot and packed and had to crowd surf to the very front to escape the madness and catch my breath again.
It will be interesting to see how many Korean goth chicks turn up at this show. I've seen a few of late in the streets here in Seoul but they don't quite look like the real deal, more like weekend goths or Tongdaemun goths or something... Anyone meet any real Korean goths and know where they hang out? |

Not so much Gothy, but... My fiancee does design for a publishing company that put out a Korean translation of some Japanese novel that apparently is like a bible for the Lolita/Goth Lolita crowd. One of her co-worker friends is sort of into it, too. Anyways, they had to do some promotion for it at some cafe in Shillim that apparently is a big hangout for those types. It looked like it from the pictures, too. Like I said, not really hardcore traditional 80s goth style or anything, but sorta that Japanese black Lolita thing. Pretty cute actually... My gf had to play the part too, which I actually rather liked. She hated it, though. |

They tend to be high schoolers and listen to more death metal than gothic music. They hang out in Hongdae when they hang out but keep to themselves for the most part. Even when there are gothic/industrial events, they don't show up. They do throw their own parties/shows but they're private. |
