I also read that troops were guarding the bridge, thus preventing people from leaving the Dome. There have also been reports of police preventing people leaving New Orleans on foot from entering their towns. |

I'm glad to hear a Hyndai could travel that far. If the city was easy to get into, it was likely easy to get out of.
I think NO did alot of whining. The number of dead is less than the other places the hurricaine hit and those places are much much smaller. This means the suffereing is much less.
I think there is a blizzard of accusations that are being cleared through ie the number of dead that was grossly inflated. 10,000 dead means plenty of attention and rightousness. Nagin got credit for all of those dead people tohave his way with the public's opinion. I smell phoney. |

NO was excused from doing anything, why should another much smaller town be required to offer assistance? Over and over again, I've been told that the rescue/evacuation and housing was a Federal matter. The way the NO residents acted, I'd have reservations too. |

I've heard that NO &, i believe, large parts of the Gulf Coast area had in FACT been under FEDERAL jurisdiction for the past 2 years !!!
Yet to get to the bottom of it. Wouldn't surprise me in the least mind you
As to those college kids driving down to help out, i saw them talk about their story a few days back on CNN. Kudos to the 3 Amigos |

I read this link yesterday morning and it put me in a foul mood for the rest of the day. Christ, if Gretna doesn't want to help their neighboring city, this needs to be remembered later on ... dismantle the bridge once things get going there again and watch their cute little white suburb shrivel up and die.
This is likely one among many incidents that will need to be investigated, and charges should be filed. |
