Let's wait and see what chants the Spurs fans think up for him (cf the "Hong Kong Phooey" for Park Ji Sung or whatever his name is).

I didn't have the heart to mention such things to the drunken salaryman who proudly boasted how Korea are no1 because they now have a couple of guys in the Premiership. Maybe if the next ajosshi gets too rude I'll break the news that Park is only there as a way to grease the business investment deals for the club, and how soon he'll be watching every match from the bench.

Coping with the speed and strength of the English league is something that many players burn out on. Kluivert, Crespo, Veron etc. are all talented players that didn't really make the transition and I'm not sure about these two Koreans either.

But in all fairness, JS Park and YP Lee were in great form throughout the entire Champions league campaign for PSV. They were also respectively one of the top midfielders and fullbacks in the Dutch league, no doubt about that.

PSV is a feeder club for many of the top English clubs - it produced the likes of Arjen Robben, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jaap Stam and many more. And if Park and Lee were the top players for PSV, that shows great promise.

The prospect of financial benefits is an added incentive and I'm sure that was a big part of the decision making, but don't rule out these two just yet. I think Park especially will do some damage to the opposition. He's no Eric Djemba Djemba.

I mean, have you seen that guy running around like Wile E. Coyote in the 88th minute? That guy is one of the most fit athletes I've seen in a long time.

I've got money on with a bookie that says they'll both be plying their trade back in the K-League by January. Park hasn't exactly set the world on fire so far.

I was surprised at how cheap he was. I knew PSV were hard up for a couple of old guilders but I didn't know they would let players go for those kind of prices.

The Euro's just want a stab at the Asian talent pool - he's just a stepping stone.

The Korean media notwithstanding, I don't think anyone expects him to do that at any point in his career. I do think United will find him employable for several seasons and that would be quite an achievement, for any footballer.

YP Lee, I'm not so sure about.

What are the odds on that? Let me throw in a few bucks too, for YP Lee, that is.

Other more credible sources beg to differ.

Hiddink: Lee hardly ever has a bad game and usually is above average and often great, he can play anywhere on the left.

Philip Cocu: Lee's suited to English football. He's got enormous pace and if he loses the ball he's back covering in only one second to help the defense.

Hey, please prove my doubts wrong. I'm a 3rd generation Spurs fan, so it's all to my benefit if Lee Young-Pyo (sp? ̿ǥ?) turns out to be a bargain. I just imagine him to be somewhat like a Samsung TV or a Hyundai car - all the Koreans think they're the world's greatest, but in the UK they're cheap second-rate crap.

AdamH

Please be familiar with the athlete in question before you dis him. There are plenty of Korean things that cannot stack up outside of Korea, but this guy is an exceptional footballer who has done well in the Netherlands. At least you KNOW Korean cars...(so you are entitled to a negative opinion based on experience) but this guy is an individual, and comparing him to a brand of car seems really stupid. Can you compare all Germans to VWs or Americans to El Camaro(-plastic-piece-of-trash)?
