I loathe Microsoft Office. Does anyone know of a decent downloadable alternative for making tests and assignments?

Hehe, for now I'm stuck with winblows. I'm giving Openoffice a try now...I remember, although not for the life of me which thread, someone mentioned a program other than a word processor.

Loathe Microsoft Office? It's underpowered and not snazzy, true, but a trained chimp can use it and for making quick and clean handouts and tests it's the easiest thing to use.

For the best, easiest layout, use MS Publisher. If you've never used it before it'll *beep* you up for a couple of hours, but after that you'll be laying out like a pro (unlike InDesign, which'll make you and all of your offspring mental for years).
