Usually they claim Yeouido is the Manhattan of Korea. But not for the night life... mostly for just the concentration of media and movers and shakers on an island. Bundang is a nice suburb/edge city. Manhattan is generally a place for single people and great night life. Bundang is basically young, married, urban professionals and their elderly mother. Not much in terms of night life and single people might not find other single people in quantity. Although I heard it was the go-to place for Russian working ladies, Seoul salarymen all pack off there to sleep with blond women...
A nice enough place to live/work, I'm sure. |

The only place on earth that can call itself Manhattan is Manhattan.

I've never seen anywhere even remotely similar to Manhattan anywhere on earth.. and definetely not Bundang.
Bundang is more a suburb or satellite city.. or something way out on the fringes. Its like what Fairfax County is to Washington DC. Dull and boring and a way for city people to think they are kind of in a city and kind of think they aren't (in other words, the worst of two worlds). |

Bundang is the Manhatten of Seoul, in the same way Cheju Island is the Hawaii of Korea, in that neither of these two places have any resemblance whatsoever to the real thing. |

I was eating at the Tower Palace Kraze Burger the other day and overheard some guy who was looking out at the eponymous towers and remarking to his stylish, plastic-surgery enhanced girlfriend that this was really the Manhattan of Seoul. Maybe the Park Avenue, in terms of money, but Manhattan? Because of the tall buildings?
Ever notice that people who study in New York make sure to say Manhattan and not NYC?
I've also heard that Chungdam-dong is the Beverly Hills of Korea. |

I walked around last night and I see what you are saying. It is more like downtown Knoxville.
Funny, I was in jeju as well and yes, definitely not Hawaii.
No expectation and no disappointment. I guess I should hang onto this while I am here. I am realizing how amazing Vancouver is.

No that's funny.
Manhattan is where it is all at. Bundang there is not a damn thing to do.
Bundang is the Long Island of Korea. |

Christ. Try at least to spell Manhattan correctly if you're going to try and seem knowledgeable about the real thing. *pat* *pat* |

Oh no, my enemy (mindmetoo's description of himself, not mine) is back with some scathing criticism of my spelling. Hahaha. I've been trying to work out just which freak you are in the freaky wagookin thread but you seem to fit so many descriptions, no doubt one of the pervy freaks that seem to lurk in ESL land.
Ah well, at least your post gave me a chuckle.
Thanks. |

Where's Derrick when you need him?
At any rate, I have it on good authority that teachers can expect very small apartments given housing costs. |
