Yeeha is a basically a Hogwan owned and managed by an expat American. Over the last several years they have branched into the translation/editing market as well as into recruiting.

Staff turnover there is very high, among both Korean staff and the native English teachers that they employ. In my opinion they use bait and switch tactics in employing people and then make their employees work in way below market conditions until they quit.

Anyway, I just found this on their site :

http://www.checkresume.net/services/services_detail.html

They are offering to verify the resumes of foreigners who are applying to work in Korea.

Included in things that they can check for:

Credit history, police checks, calling previous employers, immigration, checking previous addresses, etc.

Now, I can guarantee you that this organization regularly breaks laws that it considers unimportant – employing part time teachers without visas and sending teachers to classes off site without permission from immigration. Also, they are trying to enter the recruiting business.

Say I apply for a job at abc university is Seoul. They call Yeeha and ask them to do a check on me. Yeeha waits a few days and then calls them back – Oh, he lied on his resume, you dont want to hire him. But it just so happens that I know just the guy for you and they then introduce someone that has signed up to their recruiting company.

My point is who is making sure that the information they give is accurate? How do they have permission to dig up this information?

Keep in mind this is an American doing this, not a Korean. He doesnt pay pension or severance to employees, withholds vacation, etc.

Strange. I thought Dan and/or Trevor were Canadian? Or at least one of them is. I met them 3 years ago during my first tour in SK. I only remember their names because I got Dan's card and wrote Trevor's name on it, too.

Sucker,

I don't know the answer to your question, but I was wondering...

Did you work for them?
Did you get burned by them?
Do you know anyone who works there?

If they are breaking laws... how do the manage to keep from getting busted?
