| I've heard Chuseok has the effect of emptying the streets of the big city, which would certainly be a sight to see, but what does this mean for the available businesses? Is everything closed? Specifically, will anything in Yongsan be operating this weekend? |

A few Mom and Pop stores will be open, as well as the 24-hour chains like Buy The Way and Mini-Stop. Bigger stores will be closed...but MAY be open on Saturday and Monday, as Sunday is the actual holiday. Stock up on your beer and soju NOW!!! |

Bull, It's really hard to notice any difference in Seoul and loads of stores are still open including a lot of the large supermarket chains who advertise they are open 365 days of the year.
The roads are of course quieter, because people are at home with their families.
Stock up on soju my a ss. |

Yongsan will be closed for the 3 days.
For other places, check tour2korea
I know E-Mart opens 365 days a year, anyone know about Lotte Mart? |

According to the tour2korea page (see above), it's closed 17-19th... |

| I remember being in Myeongdong last year on Chuseok day and couldn't tell much difference from any other day. The place was as jumping as ever. Same for Insadong and Jongno. Maybe a few less people, that's it. |

| Lots of places open Saturday and Monday. Sunday will be more closed down. Wouldn't even worry about it. |

| I guess because I'm in a really small town where almost everything closes (at least on Sunday), AND because I remember the "good ol' days!", I thought more things would be closed. Guess Chusok is going the way of American Thanksgiving and Christmas!! |
