This is a curiosity question not an angry rhetoric thing.

Lately I've noticed a distinct increase in the number of religious posts here on Dave's. I am curious as to why this is so.

I see them as confessional, following as they do that recent spate of oral sex posts. Different posters, yes, but a sort of "Dave's collective conscience at work", if you will. Though there has always been a "holier than thou" thing going on since Dave's Day One, so I'm not really sure.

LOL Very Happy Yes, a collective conscience at work... and oral sex is the one situation in life where it truly is as good to give as it is to receive! Very Happy

...I suspect Mel Gibson is behind it (the spate of religious postings - not the blow-jobs...) Cool

How come God hasn't 'beeped' the word blowjob (yet)?

Why not? Surely the Lord has an "Angel of Head."

He does. I give Him one every night.

Ok, a counter. Whether I agree or disagree with someone, I do try to consider their views. Why all the Pro Religion topics? Pendulem swing!!!

Anyway, if you're not one of them, don't bitch unless they target you. Or are they targeting your "Religion", Socialism, Communism, Islam, Federalism, Humanism, feminasim, etc, etc. Its all religion, just change the name. We are just taught that the old beliefs are superceded by the new, but they're all still just a religion.

If you don't agree, say why. Make it good.

The childish irreverence exemplified by comments on this thread speaks loud and clear why judgement must, and will descend on the earth. God , nature, and the environment is ridiculed as having no value in this day and age.
I would not dream of making the sort of comments i've just read- not in a million years.

Sad Be careful that you know what you are supporting.

Most people on this thread don't believe that there is a hell unless its one created by or for them on earth. 1000 yrs ago, no one believed that you could place a fertilized egg from one woman into another and have a live birth. It is amazing what we don't know, and ignorant to ridicule what may be.

There was a time when religion was considered a private matter and not discussed in 'polite society'. That began to break down some time ago, largely with the rise of evangelicals and fundamentalists. Public discussion of religion has finally reached critical mass. I wonder if 9/11 had something to do with it, in that more people are starting to define themselves in religious terms as a way of identifying with the non-Moslem world.
