So when exactly is Tax season in Korea? Is it in the Spring? I've been here for a year now and I fully expect that I should receive some sort of tax receipt or something. What is expected in terms of taxes for someone on an e2. Shouldn't there be a filing and a form declaring the taxes I've paid for the year?

I've been here for a number of tax seasons and never got anything. No form in the mail. No nothing. Ever. It just comes and goes. I don't even know when it is. From what I understand, the employer takes care of everything. We don't even sign anything.

I suspect that hagwons don't pay much attention to things like this, but if you have a car and pay car insurance, and/or a credit card, you might want to find out if you can get a tax refund. I got one last January/February...around 800,000!!! I had to turn in the tax information that came with my insurance and credit card bills. Believe me...I used my credit card a LOT more often this year!!
