Hey Guys,
Over on one of the other job sites (that starts with w and ends in y), there is a "part time job offering" MWF nites in Seoul for 1.5 million won.
The contact address is along the lines of seoulimmigration.co.kr
It also stipulates it prefers North Americans, and no kyopos.
Is it me, or does this seem like some incredibly lazy immigration official is hoping ridiculously dumb American writes and expresses their desire for some nice illegal part time work, along with their contact info.
Whaddya think? |

Maybe they are hoping to snag one of those drug-crazed Canadian drug dealers in a THC fog. |

If I were in the area and had the time, I might take them up on their offer. It's 45,000 per hour...pretty good, especially if it's legit. Send them an E-mail stating, "I'm very interested in the position and have already received permission from my E-2 sponsored school. My interest is contingent upon SLI processing the proper paperwork through immigration." |

If my school said it was ok, and did the paperwork would u be able to do this, or other part-time work?
Incidentally I'm in EPIK and do u know the policy with them. My school is lovely but I get NO extra work and I'd love the money.
That said it certainly looks wrong. |

Apparently, EPIK can wh0re you out wherever they want within the educational area you've been hired for. I worked with two EPIK people this summer for a summer camp. They had permission from the Boo-sahn department of education and were good to go. However, I had to get an add-on to my F-2 to be legal. Talk to your supervisor/principal...I'm sure it can be done as long as it doesn't interfere with your first school. I did the EPIK paperwork and application forms shortly after I was hired, but I'm technically not an EPIK employee because I signed through a recruiter for my middle school job...so sorry, I don't exactly know the EPIK policies. It's my understanding from posters here, and talking with other EPIK people, that EPIK teachers are able to work within their educational region without having to do extra paperwork through immi as long as their school and educational office representative vouches for, and gives permission to, them. However, I'm not certain if that applies only to the public school side of things. Anyway, ask them and see what they say. I, as well as many other people, have worked at an additional place legally.
Think about it. Why does this one have to not be legit? If you tell them(SLI) that you want it to be legal, I don't think anyone can "burn" you. If they tell you that they're unwilling to do the necessary paperwork, that's when you walk away. Maybe SLI has a big contract with immi to teach immi employees or something? Doesn't hurt to ask a few questions. It might be a good job for you. |
