Fascinating developments so far... though personally I just love the idea of an Ampel-Koalition... |

Ja, ja, da haben Sie schon recht, aber die Gruenen mit Merkel? Unbegreiflich...?
Interessante, dass weder die SDP noch die CDU eine Koalition mit der Linkspartei bilden wollen. (Oder so sagen sie...) |

Stimmt.
Kein Gruenes Licht fuer die Ampel
Die Gruenen sind ja practisch unerheblich. |

Sorry Bo.
The issue is that neither the SDP (centre-left) nor the CDU (centre-right) have won enough seats to form a majority government, even in coalition with their traditional allies (the Greens for the SPD, and the Liberals for the CDU). The Liberals (whose colour is yellow) have already ruled out forming a 'traffic light' alliance (red (SPD) - yellow - Greens) (I liked the idea, but Dogbert said it'd never happen). I was saying above that it was also inconceivable that the Greens would work with Merkel. Moreover both sides have said they will not work with the "new" Left Party.
Dogbert (and the article he posted) were saying that the Greens are pretty irrelevant given they're now only the fifth biggest party. Unless they are prepared to join the CDU, I tend to agree (but as the article Dogbert posted says, doing so would be against everything they fought the election on).
However, someone has to give - or there'll have to be another election... |
