How do you guys react when you receive poor customer service here? In the past, I've complained (tried both approaches- polite, as well as angry), but it doesn't seem to register. I get the fake concerned looks, or people who take absolutely no responsibility at all (your hair is orange. So what? S*** happens), or people who literally have been like, so what do you expect me to do about it (um, a discount, ya think?)?
My normal stylist wasn't at the salon today, so I just opted for whoever was available. Bad choice, but luckily not disastrous. Simple case of a guy with a bad attitude and just plain lazy. I thought about asking for a discount ( a massage is included in the treatment, and I didn't get one. If I'm paying 50,000 won for a simple treatment, I better get all that's offered, right?), but I decided it wasn't worth the hassle, and they would just talk about me after I left, so I let it go. I didn't want to burn any bridges.
My only recourse was not to tip him. Occassionally I tip my stylist because he really does go the extra mile. If I get crappy service, usually I just don't return. I wonder if Koreans are big complainers about poor customer service. I guess I should've been more proactive with the guy today, but I didn't want to be pushy. Ho hum. |

In that case, you need a Korean with you. Most Koreans would bitch and moan until they got the massage and a discount.
My girlfriend does it all for me. It's really convenient, and she's tough when she speaks Korean.
We went to Jade Garden in Gangnam one time and she laid it on them for bringing us lemonade that tasted like pee the first time, then a dirty glass the second time.
She said something to the effect of "This is my friend's first time in Korea. You are setting a poor example for service in our country, and he may already be disappointed. I don't want you to serve our table anymore and everything else better be clean and delicious or we will make sure never to return"
After a thousand "Choisong Hamnida" from 3 different servers, the manager brought all our food and gave us one dish free.
Unless you speak Korean well or they speak english well, there probably isn't much you can do. |

i thought it was a general rule that substitute hairstylists do a poor job. why would they go the extra mile if they know you already have a stylist you like.
as for poor service in general. i just voice my disapproval. if they offer a remedy, i accept it with a smile.
if they do nothing, i take my money elsewhere.... half the time it is just some no-mind uni part timer who really doesn't care if i stay or go. |
