Whoa alcohol content is way different. Vodka is close to twice the strength.
Try putting both in the freezer. Soju will be solid as a rock in an hour. Vodka will be fine forever.

Soju is from sweet potatoes whereas vodka is from potatoes.

Soju has 21% alcohol while vodka has a different percentage (correct me if I am wrong)

Anyway, despite soju having only 21% alcohol, it burns me the most. Soju and I just do not mix. I can more easily cope with the 38% to 40% spirits though.

No contest.

Vodka: Ambrosia of the Gods. Soju: Garbage.

Good vodka (I don't mean the cr*p they sell in E-mart) will NOT give you the monster headache that soju will.

Vodka is usually used with a mix.

Soju, on the other hand is downed straight-up by alcoholics - and tastes like crap. No self-disrespecting Korean ajoshi would tarnish the vile-tasting crap by making lemon or cherry soju (which I rather enjoy although I am rarely allowed to mix it when around Korean males because of the reason I stated earlier).

I put either lemon or orange zest in my vodka (or gin!) and let it sit for a few days - mix with water only.

Yummy

Yeah, sorry, I'm fresh off the plane. I did taste it, and it tasted suspiciously like vodka - guess I missed the difference in alcohol content. Very similar, nonetheless.

Speaking as a peasant, it's my firmly held conviction that vodka is the social climber's way of achieving the same result at many times the cost. Laughing

I don't know what's in Soju but it's something unusual.

I've been doing extensive research into Soju for the last 5 years. After just 3 bottles of the stuff in quick succession I'm liable to dance on restaurant tables, take off my clothes, be horribly rude to strangers and my friends and other terrible behaviour. The next morning I won't even know how I got home or why I'm wearing my underwear over my trousers.....

Basically, not a lot of Soju puts me into la-la land.

On the other hand, for example, last weekend I stayed home with my sick girlfriend on saturday night. To make the night go with a bit of a swing I got a bottle of decent Irish whiskey (Jamesons, very reasonably priced at 28,000 in Walmart). That's 40% booze. Almost twice the strength of Soju. By 1am I found to my complete shock that I had drank the whole bottle!!! A full 700 ml of 40% whiskey. That equals to about 6 bottles of soju!!!! However, unlike the soju horrors, I was in complete control, coherent had a shower then tottled off to bed. No trauma and complete recollection the next day.

I tell ya......there's something wierd in soju. Other drinks don't hit me half as hard as soju.

I got the ultimate Vodka.. I bought it in Japan for a whoping 1300 yen. Smile

Its made in Poland (My home) Name: Spirytus Rektyfikowany.. Its only 500ml but it is 192 percent proof.. Yeah baby its 96 percent alcohol by volume. How many Soju bottles is that?

I also picked up bottle of Absinthe.. Funny thing is that I even declared these when I came back from Japan and the customs just let me right through.
