|
|
Hi. I've planning on staying in Korea for a cople more years and then travelling for a year after that. When I eventually make it back to Canada I want to take some time to learn french before completing a Graduates degree.
With that said, does anybody here know of a good program offered in Quebec (preferably Montreal) where I can study French?
I figure i'll have about 8 months to do so (Sept-April). I've basically lost all of my French from high school and I would like to get close to fluent as possible. Plus i've always wanted to live in Montreal because I here it's such a great city.
Thanks in advance for anybodies help. |

But living in Montreal is a huge impediment. Far too much English. If it's only for 8 months, go to La Ville de Quebec. There it's French or nothing. Amazingly beautiful city, and you can get down to Mtl. on weekends in a coupla hours.
In 1980 I went from knowing my colours and numbers to fluency in 3 months. Ok, with a child's brain, but still.
Quebec City.
Seriously. |

True that. But having lived there for a few months here and there, I have to say, there's few other places I've enjoyed living as much!
If it's your dream to live in Montreal for a year, and are willing to sacrifice some ease of gaining proficiency because of it, then do it!
I would. |

Isnt Canadian french different from the language in France? Well, there are some big differences right? I might be off here as I have been to neither country, but I did have a french canadian friend in high school and she said they have similarities but are quite different too.
Are you specifically wanting to learn Canadian French? |

The op is from Canada, so probably, yes.
Even if they speak it like there's marbles in their mouth to quote a Parisian. |

I agree montreal can slow your learning of French due to too much access to English!
Try Quebec City..Laval University there.
This will be full French immersion. |
