I need some preppy, GAP/Eddie Bauer type clothes. I have lost weight since arriving here, and I cannot stand Korean fashion.
Anyone know where I can find some western style clothes in Seoul that doesn't cost and arm and a leg? Will I have luck in big department stores? |

Giordano is fairly close to The Gap. Prices aren't bad. Basic House is cheaper and has your basic cotton casuals.
I wasn't fat when I got here but I also lost a lot of weight and my pants felt like they were going to fall off. I realized I had two choices. Buy a lot of new clothes. Expensive. Eat a lot of chocopies to bring my weight up a bit. Maybe as expensive in the long run but a whole lot more fun. |

How about Teenie Weenie?
P.S. Giordano and Basic House are a good idea. |

You can also order from Eddie Bauer and get it shipped here. Shipping can be a bit costly, but it's not horrendous. |

Korean Fashion, oxymoron anyone?
I have the same problem, i bought a ton of clothes with me, but I like to shop and its a 'water, water everywhere' situation for me.
Even Calvin Klein is awful here. |

There are lots of places to buy Gap style clothes.
Itaewon- the Underground market - head towards McDonald's (away from Burger King and Hooker Hill). There is a lane with a luggage store on the corner, turn left. About 3-4 doors down on your right are steps going downstairs and it should have a sign saying underground market. Tons of western clothes, good prices, big sizes.
Juliet's- further down the lane on left hand side. maybe 50 yards? They have a cute wiener dog that I take my dog to visit. You hear the yapping, you've found the store.
Star Market- just past McDonald's, same area. They recently refurbished ad the second floor has some NICE stuff. More dressy which is good for work. Prices are generally reasonable.
Victory Town- I think it's before the lane to the underground market. Their clothes can sometimes be a little slutty, but I've found some nice things there, sometimes.
Bang Bang. (Yes, this is the name of the store) Various locations. I've seen it everywhere from Yeoungdungpo to Gumpo. I'm between a size 12-14 and their stuff fits fine. More conservative like GAP.
EDWIN- they just re-opened in Isu, outside and to the left of exit 14. I think they have other locations. I got some great deals here from 3,000 won for dress shirts and t-shirts to 10,000 won for khakis.
That's all I can remember for now....good luck! |
