| It does look good, but how much are they making by selling the books? (Except for their own book, of course!) |

| I saw that, too. But sure beats the 1.5 million won + TEFL/TESL classes offered by some companies. Even the cheapest online ones are $300 and up. |

| What's the catch? Isn't it an online course? And aren't they generally not as favourable as doing a one month course with real teaching practice? |

This looks pretty good. Books cost around $90USD, plus another $25 for the actual diploma. Rod Ellis is a well-known name in academic EFL/ESL circles. Accreditation is an issue (endorsed by Dongseo University in Korea, University of Salford and University of South Queensland), but at this price what do you have to lose? It wouldn't be accepted by NET in Hong Kong (or at a university in Taiwan, for that matter), but the Dongseo University endorsement (ranked 5th among Korean universities, according to their website http://www.dongseo.ac.kr/main_eng.html?Menu_Code=13-05 ) would probably hold some credence in Korea.
I'm gonna do it. I'm doing my M.S. Language Education TESOL with Indiana University in the States right now http://www.indiana.edu/%7Edisted/masters.html so a lot of the concepts covered in this course (Second Language Acquisition, Task-Based Learning, etc.) are familiar to me. Why not?
Thanks for the link. |
