Maybe I don't hang out much in the right spots, but I can't recall a single time I've ever seen two young drunk Korean guys go at it. This is, of course, common in North America. Who doesn't see a parking lot fight after the bars close? But in Korea, the only drunks I see trying to dust it up are over the age of 55. Like Friday I saw some old guy trying to clout some other old guy on the subway platform. Someone's wife was standing between them trying to keep them apart.

Too afraid of being sued and paying compensation.

A punch to the head is regarded as worse than the crime of mass murder in this country.

Its funny to see though...young guys fighting outside the bar. Such a restrained affair: no matter how angry and overcome they are, it amounts to a lot of pushing and shoving. Worst i've seen is a open handed slap, and that fairly gentle.
But of course anything is allowed when it comes to guys assaulting a woman. And everyone knows you can attack waygooks without fear of police action.

I've seen quite a few young guys proper-fighting here. One time myself, another foreigner and a Korean friend of his were walking into a convenience store at about 6am after a snifter or two on a tuesday morning. We walked past a group of 6 (also drunk) guys who insulted my foreign friend in Korean.

Neither of us foreigners noticed or understood and carried on strolling into the shop. About 30 seconds later we cottoned onto the fact that there was a bunch of shouting and other noise going on outside. It turns out our Korean friend had heard the insult, and immediately snapped and tried to take on 6 other guys.

The six guys ended up getting knocked down by my friend and his Korean friend (both tough types.. unlike myself). The six guys called the cops. We went for a sit-down. The cops arrived and saw us peacefully eating ramyeon inside when they arrived, talked to our Korean friend, then told the six losers to quit whining and drove off.

A few weeks ago in a small city a Korean guy I'd unfortunately given a litre of 50% soju-esque drink to went a bit crazy and started fighting with a couple of other young guys. I have no idea what the fight was about.

They actually did fight, and pulled some TKD moves to each others heads which was entertaining. It ended when some mafia looking dude turned up in a BMW (pretty much the only one I've ever seen in that little city).

I'm not certain he was K-"mafia", but his legs and arms were covered in tats and he had a massive branding of a spider too on his leg.. pretty rare round those parts. He said a few words and everyone shut up. Then he drove the really drunk guy away. One of the others was in hospital by then.

Seem to be plenty of young guys fighting round me..

you live in Mokpo and I claim my 5 guineas.

Although I've never seen anyone fighting, there's been a couple of ocassions where the younger guys from work have shown up with black eyes and broken arms from fighting each other.
They always seem to have made up pretty well when sober though.

i've never seen any young guys fight BUT,
I have seen (on TWO occassions) a slight altercation, seperated by friends) only to have one of the guys run at the other (as he was walking away) with this HUGE double footed drop kick right to the back...
look like a bad case of whip lash.
and his friends didn't do anything.
If someone did that to one of my friends, i'd choke them till they passed out...lay them on the ground...then run away.
