|
|
I'm getting a little bored with the Korean food that's in my rotation and am looking for some recommendations for what is good that I may not have heard about.
My hope for this thread is that people will post the name and description of one Korean food they like, especially one that other people may not have heard of. (Everyone knows kimbap, so skip it.)
My recommendation: ߵ
This is a spicy chicken stew. It's always had the bone in the times I've had it in restaurants. It is pieces of chicken stewed with veggies like potatoes, carrots, leeks and onions in a fairly hot spicy red sauce. I've never seen it served for just one person. I think you have to be in a group to order it.

Bossam/. It's kind of like but the meat is steamed instead. Usually it's a little pricey. |

I'm into the grilled fish these days. (or ġ I can never remember how to spell it) is my favorite, with the wasabi/soy mix for dipping.

its really really easy to make so you can make a small portion for yourself or save leftovers for the next day
all you need is chicken, potatoes, onions, leeks/scallions, carrots, chillis
soy sauce, sesame oil, gochu garu, garlic, blk pepper, maybe a little dashida, ginger if you want and you can add sugar too (dont add any water)
its a one pot deal, just throw it all into a pot and stir, start with high flame and when it starts to bubble, lower the heat and leave it alone on low until the chicken is cooked through |

Kimchee fried rice. I know this is boring, but I could eat it four times a day! Best at restaurants that specialize in fried rice and sometimes department store food courts.
(This dish is...rice...fried...with kimchee.)

JJimdalk is good. It's steamed chicken in a spicy soy sauce with potatoes, onions, carrots and glass noodles. A bit pricy but tasty as *beep*. |

I think some posters were talking to their neighbors when I was giving directions. They are not following the guidelines and will not get full credit for their work.
Let this be a lesson to you. |

Game? You want a game? OK, I'll give you a game. Let's see how fast you can run. If I catch you, I get to hit you with my love stick till my arm gets tired.
But in the spirit of 'you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar' there will be a piece of home-made gingerbread for those who cooperate and give me a DESCRIPTION of a tasty-sounding new food. |
