I'm new to using XP and dont' know my way around it very well . . . top top it off, I'm running the Korean version.

After finding out this weekend that my boyfriend has over5GB of music downloaded and the result is about 4MB of total free space available. Shocked I went on a deleting binge and got rid of a lot of his music (this could be the last time I post, as I may be murdered for this shortly...).

I want to do a disk defrag on my C drive now, but can't figure it out in Korean - anyone willing to give me step-by-step instructions on how to do this, with possibly some of the Korean words that I am looking for as well?

Or, is there a better idea on cleaning out my system now that I have deleted so many files?

Thanks

ok...
1) YOU DELETED HIS MUSIC?!? You deserve death, go commit seppuku now.
2) Go to www.download.com, look up tune-up utillities 2006 and DL it. Run the disk cleaner, registry cleaner, optimizer, and defrag. Its in English, so will be easier
3) Leave no forwarding address and run, deleting music is a sin punishable by death.

I doubt that it was simply your boyfriends music that was eating up all the space, but it's good of you to determine that it was someone elses stuff that was in the way, and then deleted it. Nice.

You should have a look in the add/remove programs and see what is on the pc you don't need to free up some space. That, or check other places where stuff collects, like the " " folder.

Also, run "disk cleanup utility" or get ccleaner to free up some space.

Anyone deletes any music (not to mention 5GB!) of mine will have a seious doghouse waiting for them after work that day.

you really dont need to run defrag if the files were added over a short period of time (although 5G should have taken a while!). ALTHOUGH running defrag occasionally is a good idea. The Clean-up application should be in the same folder as the defrag - look for the orange looking broom on a grey hard-drive (have to use your imagination).

You can find the XP defrag - [start]-[programs] - look for the Icons with folders behind a monitor, go down the next level of icons with the same apperance. You are looking for the Icon with a red partial block, with blue prisms falling (rising?) from the top right corner. Follow your nose from there.

As to your fate, suggested by others - I say P!SS OFF - it is YOUR property - bugger your 'friend' who clearly was irresponsbile, and rude. Let 'em get their own PC. They should have asked first, and determined a way to get their stuff off YOUR PC. I hope they at least had the courtesy to ask first.

I use my room-mate's PC all the time to download - with her approval; she gets to watch the movies too! Then again, she gets to use my W 120,000 printer Very Happy Just wish she would buy the ink! Mad

Windows Disk Defragmenter can be reached by typing dfrg.msc in the "run" dialog box. That can be popped up by pressing win+r (windows key + r). If Windows Disk Defragmenter is in Korean, then simply click on the drive you want to defrag and click on the second button from the left at the bottom of the window.

Better yet, DON'T DO THE DEFRAG as it will kill all traces of his lost MP3s from the hdd forever. Download Tune-Up Utilities 2006 and use the new "undelete" utility that is included in the newest version to get back his MP3s and have your life spared. You can then burn a lot of his stuff to CDs to get them off your computer or, get him to buy an external harddrive for his files/backups (this is a good idea regardless of this issue, especially if you don't have a DVD burner).

I hope it isn't too late!
