Well here I am sitting in my office with nothing to do because my kids have midterms.
My supervisor who I am supposed to report to every morning and afternoon has disappeared without a trace. She is my one contact in the school.
This afternoon, I am supposed to go to Immigration to pick up my ARC. However, I need permission from the Principal to leave school during working hours. My supervisor was supposed to sort it out, but I have no idea of she has.
Would it be ok just to walk out and go to Immigration? |

I find in my school, no one ever complains provided you dont ask anyone. Play off the fact no one is willing to loose face and therefore would never risk looking silly questioning where you go. This is especially true considering that you have a valid reason to go out, just say you were told it was ok if anyone complains and put it down to miscommunication.
I've been loafing around since last weds, so far i've planned lessons for the next 3 weeks, have written 5 of 10 lesson plans i need to do for our school evaluation and watched 30 episodes of SG1. I am enjoying this month. |

Nothing to do myself. Do I reply to another 'western women are so unattractive' thread or go out for another smoke? Can't really do much lesson planning because I don't know what I'll be teaching tomorrow. I think I'll head over to the bank if I can find where I put my electricity bill.
Easy for me, though, as I can be in one of three staff rooms depending on whether I'm doing academic HS, vocational HS, or middle school. If I'm not in one they just assume I'm in another. |

Ditto. I have planned as many lessons as I can. The others I am waiting for input from the Korean teachers before I can do anything.
In fact, I could probaby leave and no one would notice. I have my own office which is in a completely different building to the staff room where my supervisor sits if she is around. Plus, no one checks on me.
I think I will just go and if anyone asks I'll tell it as it is.
Cheers blunder. |

Just stand up, go to the office or the Vice Principal, or whomever is under your principal and explain the situation. You don't need to rely on your supervisor for everything. That or just inform them that you're leaving to get your ARC, and that you had mentioned this to your supervisor. |

I have a lot to do! I have over 100 students to evaluate and grade, and presentations to prepare them for, as well as essays to grade.
On the up side- after mid-terms it is a quick slide downhill to the end of the semester! |

That's kind of difficult as I have no idea who the VP is and the Principal doesn't speak any English.
However, on the plus side I just got a call from my supervisor. SHe is in the school!!! Now, I can sign the book and make my absence official. |

This is the middle of the 6th week of a 16 week semester. Midterms are in two weeks, after that it is week 9, 5 more weeks of classes, finals prep, finals, and it's over.
It doesn't sound so fast, but after mid-terms it goes really too fast to get everything done. I, oddly enough, find myself half wishing for another week or two. |

Yes.
I've just supervised an exam but I'm back here now sat on my ar5e emailing and texting my mates and surfing the net. It's a tough life getting paid for this! |

Nothing to do, nothing to do. I fully expect that I'll go home and take a nap after I eat lunch....or play xbox games.
The only thing I have to do this week is a self-imposed goal. I want to finish the lesson plan for my model class which is on the 18th. |

Our mid-terms are Th-Mon so my down time starts tomorrow. This is my 5th week at this school and so far I haven't worked a complete 5-day week. Next week won't be full either. It's pretty nice. |

Ahh just go! I pretty much always leave early, it's a pointless rule to stay and do nothing and you may well find other teachers occasionally nip off too - as long as no-one talks about it. The other teachers know that i go... or do they? Anyway, if asked the next day about it I just say 'oh i told so and so' or 'it was a lovely day so i was sitting under the trees'.... they know i'm lying but they prefer the lie to the truth so we're all happy. |
