Unfortunately, I can't find any other links. I have never seen Benny Hinn, so I am looking forward to it! I have only heard the negative. |

Wonders never cease.
I didn't think that saucy 1070s English comedians were Yoido Gospel's thing. And besides, isnt the poor fella dead?

Nah... this guy's been based in Orlando, Florida, and he has great over-the-top dramatic skills if nothing else. Reportedly, he was the healin'-preacher that Steve Martin was satirizing in that movie I can't remember the title of. Although he's been accused of being money-hungry I don't know that for a fact. If he's as sincere as he seems to be enthusiastic it's possible that God could work through him to heal some people. Evander Holyfield, the ex-heavyweight champ is (or was) a devoted follower who credited him with curing his heart ailment - but Holyfield's career has hit the skids the last couple years... |

I hope you have your cheque book handy.....let the healing begin..
Benny Hinn practices a kind of shamanism where the power of the mind takes over for a short period of time but after the eletion and adreneline has gone the old problems return...
have you ever heard of anyone(besides Urban Legends) who was really permamntly cured of an ailment through his yelling and screaming...
If his method really did cure disease, he would be the most in demand person in hospitals all over the world...but then reality sinks in9for us heathens) and we know that he is full of himself.... |

Curiosity got the better of me so I looked Benny Hinn up on wikipedia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_Hinn
seems like he is a big fraudster...and he tells a lot of lies, here are some..
Quote: |
"The Lord also tells me to tell you in the mid 90s, about 94-95, no later than that, God will destroy the homosexual community of America. [audience applauds] But He will not destroy it – with what many minds have thought Him to be, He will destroy it with fire. And many will turn and be saved, and many will rebel and be destroyed. |
-I didn't notice any homosexuals going up in flames, spontanious combustion doesn't seem to be on the increase....
Quote: |
A world dictator is coming on the scene. My! He's a short man. He's a short man. I see a short man who's a perfect incarnation of Satan. [speaks in tongues] Never in my life have I had anything happen like what's happening to me now! 'This man will rule the world. In the next few years you will see him. But not long after that you will see Me.'"
Orlando Christian Center, Dec. 31, 1989
|
This i could give the benefit of the doubt as it has such a wide interpretation, kind of like reading your horoscope where it says be careful with money, today will be a good day,etc..
Of course there will be a new dictator popping up every now and then, but he couldn't resist but claiming Benny hinn will conquer the satan...
Quote: |
"We may have two years before the rapture. Can I be blunt with you? I don't know if we have two years left. I'm going to prove to you from the Word tonight, that we have less than two years.
November 9, 1990 Praise-a-Thon
|
-Its 15 years later...unless i am imagining things I am still here. did anything big happen in 1992 besides my parents going ballistic at me about borrowing the car and going on a road trip(and boy did that feel like a rapture)
Quote: |
"Jesus is coming again within the next two years." |
-Well he could well be here, only time will tell but with the track record of these predictions, i have my doubts..
Quote: |
"The Spirit of God tells me an earthquake will hit the East Coast of America and destroy much in the '90s. Not one place will be safe from earthquakes in the '90s. These who have not known earthquakes will know it. People, I feel the Spirit all over me!" |
-I must have missed that, did anyone see this in the news???
In summery, Christianity is certainly better off without him. Makes a Korean fraudster look like a morally rightous man.. |

Did you see the CBC expose on Hinn? I think it as on the fifth estate.
One of my favourite quotes from the New Testament is something like "a rich man has as much chance of getting into heaven as a camel has in climbing through the eye of a needle" - something like that, I don't know where. Anyways, I wonder what God thinks of Hinn's 10 million dolar mansion and his penchant for five star hotels. |

I'd be more interested in seeing Benny Hill. If they resurrected him I'd consider it a genuine religious experience. |

Most Christians I talk with on a theology forum consider Benny Hinn to be a fruitcake who is using the religion for personal gain. I haven't heard of any Christians properly educated in their religion who give him any credence.
I did see him once, a few years back. It was truly a marvel. It would be a blast to see him in Korea, too, if for nothing else than to observe how the audience reacts to him.
If anyone wants to get a little tipsy and head there with me, let me know.
