We have been told we need to do an open class for the kindergarten children's parents. I have two classes one 6/7 year old class and one 4/5 year old. There are only five to a class and neither can really say much apart from some volcab. We've been told to make it elaborate and show off to the parents. Thats is all we've been told. I have never done an open class before and I don't know where to start. i'm worried my ideas wont be good enough. I have two questions;
In your experience, what do parents expect from the open classes? and more importantly;
Has anyone got any ideas to start me off?
The school is new and the director is keen to show to the parents how wonderful the new changes are despite everything really being quite awful including the new cirriculum and near non existent teaching materials!!! |

I would say that doing a lot of chants and songs...and games that the kids already know and are good at, will show the parents that their kids are really learning English. BUT remember that the kids will probably be super quiet at first....and maybe for the whole class! Try to keep to your routine as much as possible, but "jazz it up" a little. |

Pray.
There will always be one student's mother who will complain...just take it in stride. |
