Once upon a time, I thought I'd be living in Bundang, but that didn't happen. It now appears that I'll live in the Gangnam area. I'm looking for a clean, newer place. I'm checking out officetels and "onerooms" and finding them to be somewhat more expensive than anticipated. Yeah, I know, it's an expensive area so I'll have to live with it unless I decide to go further away. I'm hoping to be near Gangnam station, Yeoksam station, Seoul National Univ. of Education station, or going just a bit further, maybe near Seolleung or Seocho station. All of those stations are on Line 2 (Green) of the subway.

Do you or a friend live in an officetel or a newer/cleaner "oneroom" in the Gangnam area near one of the aforementioned stations?

Can you tell me what you (or your friend) are actually paying for:

* Rent
* utilities (excluding cable/Internet)

Also, out of curiosity, if you found your place through an agent, what fee did you end up paying for the agency's service?

Thanks!

i know a dude in seoul nat. of ed. living in a small officetel right by the subway for 5,000,000 deposit and 500,000 a month. i know a dude in yeoksam living in a big one room about 7 minutes walk from the subway for the same price. i know a chick right near there living in a place for 1,300,000 a month (lesson: it varies). utilities less than 50,000.

officetels usually give you everything you want except size. onerooms are dingier but bigger. your call, i guess. i'd say yeoksam would be your best bet.

If you walk down the street between Seoul Nat. Univ. Of Education and Nambu terminal there are several new officetels that have just opened or will be opening soon. They are very close to Nambu Terminal, but it's only about a 10 minute walk to Seoul Nat. Univ.of Education (gyodae) station. Depending on the size and the floor you want to stay on, you can find places for 5,000,000won deposit and 400,000won/mth plus utilities and apt. fees. I really like the area, but you need to be willing to overlook the oodles of room salons in the area.

Goodluck
