I recall hearing a pundit refer to Ralph Kleins $400 rebate per Albertan as an example of poor financial planning and forcasting, and spreading around the money like a drunk in a bar who just won the lottery isn't the best method of using these funds.
I think you could safely say the same for the Fed's idea.
I'm no economist and I can barely balance my monthly chequebook, but how come I always hear 'you need money to make money' but the govt never takes this route?
Why can't they bank the surplus and make interest off of it? |

Yeah I am very skeptical especially after seeing the results in the US. However in Alberta they have no debt and they bank some of the surplus every year in the "Heritage Fund" which is now worth billions, so if there is no debt and every thing is being funded I like the idea of a tax cut/bonus cheque. I am told that Alaskians get a cheque every year based on gas & oil returns but I don't know if that is true. |
